Photo From the Attic: Some Bunt

[IMGCAP(1)]Republican Rep. Charles Fletcher (Calif.) attempts a bunt in this 1947 practice for the Congressional Baseball Game. Catching is Rep. Glenn Davis (Wis.) and serving as umpire is Rep. Harold Hagen (Minn.). Until 1950, only House Members filled the rosters of the teams. And despite appearances, the Republicans beat the Democrats in the big game that year. More information on the history of the game can be found on the Clerk’s Web site.
