HOH’s One-Minute Recess: The JoBro Show

It was a scene reminiscent of the Beatles at “The Ed Sullivan Show—: a mop-top musician causing a roomful of young girls to swoon — including one who even fainted.

[IMGCAP(1)]Nick Jonas, one third of the tween-rock outfit, the Jonas Brothers, testified this morning at the Senate Homeland Security Committee about his experiences with diabetes. His comments were apparently quite affecting, and a few minutes into his delivery, a young woman who had been standing in the back of the hearing room keeled over.

The woman, who witnesses told HOH was also diabetic, was removed from the room, looking “alert and OK,— according to one witness.

The fuss at the back of the room didn’t interrupt the hearings (the witnesses and Members were oblivious to it), and Chairman Joe Lieberman (ID-Conn.) seemed equally excited about the other celebrity witnesses, who were decidedly more appealing to the oldsters.

“The younger members of my office — the pages and interns — were excited about Nick Jonas,— he said. “I myself am thrilled to be a room with Sugar Ray Leonard and Mary Tyler Moore.—

Lieberman continued, poking fun at his relatively, er, mature, cultural touchstones. “I don’t want to date myself, but I’d be thrilled to be in a room with Sugar Ray Robinson,— he said.
