Illinois: It’s Official: Biggert Has Rematch With Harper

Democrat Scott Harper announced Friday that he will run for a second consecutive cycle against Rep. Judy Biggert (R).

“I am running for Congress because I have a vision for a better tomorrow and the values to lead us there,— Harper said.

The six-term Republican won re-election with 54 percent in 2008 — Biggert’s closest rate to date. Harper was expected to run again for the seat and never stopped raising money for his campaign.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee paid little attention to Harper in his 2008 bid, but officials have indicated that he will have their backing this cycle. The committee has already gone up with several ads attacking Biggert, who they believe is politically vulnerable.
