John Ensign (R-Nev.) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) are denying claims that Coburn urged Ensign to give millions of dollars to the husband of his mistress in order to make the problem go away.Doug Hampton, the husband of Ensign’s former mistress, Cynthia — and a former top aide and close friend to the Nevada Senator — Wednesday evening alleged that Coburn proposed paying off Hampton’s home debt during a confrontation orchestrated by Hampton that involved Coburn, Ensign and other members of the C Street “prayer house,— a home where a number of Christian Senators and House Members live.Coburn has denied making such a suggestion.Ensign has also denied those allegations. “In response to today’s television interview, Senator Ensign said Doug Hampton was consistently inaccurate in his statements,— Ensign spokesman Tory Mazzola said late Wednesday.
