First lady Michelle Obama dined with a few friends at Penn Quarter restaurant Oyamel Cocina Mexicana on Thursday night, our friends over at Roll Call’s Hot Plate column tell us.

[IMGCAP(1)]Joined by White House chef Sam Kass and at least one other unidentified guest, Obama ate her meal in the restaurant’s private dining room. She stayed hidden most of the evening — and sneaked out via a back door — but Hot Plate did eye her briefly, noting she wore a white dress and had her hair up in a bun.

No word on what Obama ate, but the restaurant is in the midst of its annual Squash Blossom Festival, making it likely the first lady at least tried something made with the flavorful flower.
