Entrepreneur Taking on Bishop in New York 1

Businessman Randy Altschuler is mounting a challenge to New York Rep. Timothy H. Bishop, heightening the possibility the four-term congressman will face his first tough re-election battle.

Altschuler, a successful entrepreneur and prolific Republican donor, launched his campaign Tuesday, declaring that he is “committed to bringing my business experience – combined with a realistic, common-sense approach to problem solving – to help lower taxes, reform government and create jobs.”

He will certainly have the resources to fund a campaign, if he chooses, but his business background represents a double-edged sword. On one hand, he can tout his economic know-how and experience creating jobs. On the other, he opens himself up for criticism as the co-founder of a company that offered business services via workers in India.
