K Street Files: Enviros Gain Steam

The Environmental Defense Action Fund is launching an end-of-the-August-recess TV ad buy. EDAF is trying to counter the oil industry’s claim that the United States can’t afford the cap-and-trade bill.

[IMGCAP(1)]“A cap on carbon will reduce our dependence on imported oil and help create new jobs here in America, all for about a dime a day,— said Keith Gaby, communications director for EDAF’s National Climate Campaign, in a statement.

“Business, citizens and environmental groups around the country are working hard to support Congress in this effort, and the biggest obstacle they face is that big polluters are spreading mistakes or outright lies,— Gaby added.

EDAF is spending about $750,000 over the next week to run the ads in 13 states, including Michigan, Ohio, Arkansas, North Carolina and Virginia, according to the group’s spokesman, Tony Kreindler.
