Georgia: Keown Fundraising Race Against Bishop

State Rep. Mike Keown (R) raised about $105,000 and will show $101,000 in cash on hand in his first fundraising report since filing in early August to take on Rep. Sanford Bishop (D) next year.

Keown is serving his third term in the state House, where he serves as ranking member of the Education, Health and Human Services and Natural Resources and Environment committees.

Republicans haven’t seriously challenged Bishop since 2000, when Dylan Glenn — a former White House appointee — held Bishop to just 54 percent in what was then a majority-white district.

After a mid-decade redistricting, blacks now slightly outnumber whites in the 2nd district.
