Hoyer: It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Don’t book your Christmas travel just yet.House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) served notice Wednesday that while he is aiming to wrap up work in the chamber as quickly as possible in December, he is not writing off the possibility of work stretching into the second half of the month.“My objective would be not to be here more than two weeks in December, and I prefer not to be here in December at all. But obviously the realities are we’ve got a lot still pending,— Hoyer told reporters at his weekly roundtable. The No. 2 House Democrat said he doesn’t expect a health care overhaul to hit the floor before the first week of November. That month, he said, the chamber will be in session for the first and third weeks but likely not for the second and fourth weeks, in observance of the Veterans Day and Thanksgiving holidays.
