Illinois: It’s All Greek — Members Give to Giannoulias
Rep. Zack Space’s (D-Ohio) political action committee cut a $2,250 check to Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias’ (D) bid for Senate, according to reports recently filed with the Federal Election Commission.
While Giannoulias has been endorsed by several Members in the Illinois delegation, Space is one of the first Members from outside of the state to give money to his campaign.
Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.), who is also of Greek heritage, gave Giannoulias’ campaign $2,000 in March.
Giannoulias is running in a competitive primary for President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat with former Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman and former Chicago Urban League President Cheryle Robinson Jackson.
Rep. Mark Kirk is the GOP’s likely Senate nominee.
