Man Imprisoned for Breaking Into Dodd’s Office Dies

A Connecticut man serving a 30-month prison sentence for breaking into the offices of Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) has died as a result of a head injury he suffered while in the shower.According to the Hartford Courant, Gilbert Soto, 50, died New Year’s Eve at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he had been taken by prison officials. Soto was found in a shower area of the Garner Correctional Center in Newtown. State police are currently investigating his death.However, Soto suffered from a number of health issues. Prison officials said Soto became dizzy while showering and subsequently fell down. Lt. J. Paul Vance, a spokesman for the state police, told the Courant that police do not suspect foul play.Soto was arrested in 2007 for breaking into Dodd’s Hartford office, where he stole a computer, television and satellite receiver, all of which he sold for drug money. Soto had previously served 15 years in prison for the strangulation of a homeless man under an overpass in Hartford.
