Campbell Ready to Switch Races

Former Congressman Tom Campbell is ready to give up on trying to become California’s next governor and instead will go after the job of senator, reports the San Jose Mercury News

The Campbell campaign isn’t confirming that it’s ready for a switcheroo, but the Mercury News says press conferences have been scheduled for Wednesday in Los Angeles and San Jose.

For Campbell, that would mean a Republican primary against a candidate who has merely put single-digit millions of her own money into running for statewide office — Carly Fiorina. As a candidate for governor, he faced a primary against a mega-wealthy candidate who has discussed spending $150 million — Meg Whitman.
