Slaughter Feeling ‘Just Fine’ After Falling, Hitting Head

Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) said she is feeling “healthy as a horse— after falling and hitting her head Monday night and spending part of Tuesday undergoing tests at George Washington University Hospital.Slaughter, 80, said she was “bleeding like a stuck pig— after taking a fall while trying to open the door to her house “in total darkness with my hands full from unloading the car after a nine-hour car ride.— A Tuesday CAT scan revealed no internal bleeding, Slaughter said, so she came to the Capitol in time for a leadership meeting. The doctors “didn’t find anything. I knew they wouldn’t … I’ll probably have a black eye tomorrow,— said the 12-term lawmaker, pointing to a large gash on her forehead. “But isn’t it funny that my wretched hair just fell down and covered it?—Slaughter said the worst part of the experience was taking Motrin tablets Tuesday on an empty stomach, which left her feeling “absolutely foggy as hell. I couldn’t think of the right words. I couldn’t remember anybody’s name. It really had a terrible effect on me.—
