In addition to spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on television ads in the Massachusetts Senate special election, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee also kicked in the maximum $42,600 directly to state Attorney General Martha Coakley’s (D) campaign.

Coakley’s campaign reported the contribution, made Jan. 10, in her pre-general election report with the Federal Election Commission.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who needs Coakley’s 60th vote to pass the Democrats’ health care bill in the Senate, also donated the maximum $10,000 via his political action committee, the Searchlight Leadership Fund, in January.
