House Democratic leaders are keeping mum on the details of their secret negotiations with the Senate and the White House on health care, but they are promising that there will be at least 72 hours to review the final bill before the House votes.

“We will continue the transparent process this landmark legislation has had for months,— Pelosi and Hoyer said in a joint statement.

Republicans have complained vociferously that they have been shut out of the negotiations along with cameras from C-SPAN and other media, after then-candidate Barack Obama said cameras would be allowed during negotiations.

Democrats continue to meet with the White House to reconcile the House and Senate bills, with a goal of getting a final product to Obama by February.

Michael Steel, spokesman for House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), tomahawked the Democratic statement.

“The definition of irony: Democratic Leaders today emerged from a closed-door meeting to announce a backroom ‘deal’ on health care, then brag about the ‘transparent process.’—
