Hannity to Headline March NRCC Dinner

The National Republican Congressional Committee has tapped TV and radio host Sean Hannity to address its annual fundraising dinner in March, according to two sources familiar with the decision. The dinner is scheduled for March 23 at the National Building Museum.

Reps. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) are co-chairing the dinner, which officials claimed brought in more than $6 million in 2009 when Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) was the headliner.

This cycle, the NRCC needs a big fundraising haul from the dinner more than ever — even though the political climate favors the GOP at the beginning of the midterm election year. With only $2.7 million in the bank at the end of 2009, the GOP committee has only a sixth of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s $16.7 million.
