HOH’s One-Minute Recess: A Stumble Down Memory Lane

Rep. Kendrick Meek knows his drunks — but it isn’t what you think.

The Orlando Sentinel recently spent time with the Florida Democrat as he makes his way around the Sunshine State in his bid for Senate.

During one campaign stop, Meek met with a group of police officers, and the Congressman — who served as a Florida Highway Patrol captain before running for public office — began chit-chatting with the cops.

“[Y]ou’re swapping stories about hunting and life on patrol,” author Jim Stratton writes in the second-person narrative. “Someone mentions working in Key West and you joke, ‘There was a special kind of drunk down there.'”

Overheard on the Hill. “Even Texans can appreciate great hockey: Go USA!”

— Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in a tweet posted Sunday night during the USA vs. Canada Olympic hockey bout. In case you didn’t hear, Team USA upset the Canadians in a thrilling 5-3 victory.
