Kansas: Health Issue Sidetracks Republican’s Campaign

State Sen. Dick Kelsey (R) announced he is suspending his House campaign for the open 4th district seat because of a “family health issue.”

Two wealthy businessmen, Wink Hartman and Republican National Committeeman Mike Pompeo, and several other little-known candidates are still in the mix for the GOP nomination for that seat, which being vacated by Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R), who is running for the Senate.

State Rep. Raj Goyle is the only competitive Democrat in the race.
