Pelosi Will Host Obama, Irish Leader on St. Patrick’s Day

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) plans to roll out the green carpet for President Barack Obama and Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen on Wednesday at her annual St. Patrick’s Day luncheon.

Vice President Joseph Biden, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) and Members of Congress, including Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), will be at the event in the Capitol’s Rayburn Room.

The Speaker’s St. Patrick’s Day luncheon has long been a Capitol Hill tradition. It was first started by then-Speaker Tip O’Neill (D-Mass.) who hosted then-President Ronald Reagan (R).
