Sen. Isakson Hospitalized for Bacterial Infection

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) was hospitalized in Atlanta Monday for what appears to be a bacterial infection, according to a release.

“Senator Isakson woke up yesterday feeling ill and very dehydrated, and he was admitted to Northside Hospital to receive fluids and undergo tests,” spokeswoman Joan Kirchner said in a statement Tuesday, adding, “Doctors believe Senator Isakson is suffering from a bacterial infection.”

Kirchner said that Isakson, 65, “is responding very well to the treatment and is feeling much better.” She added that he met with this chief of staff at the hospital and hopes to return to work soon.

“He wants to get back as soon as he can,” Kirchner later added.
