Illinois: Opponent’s Poll Shows Competitive Contest

A new poll paid for by a rival of Rep. Debbie Halvorson (D) shows the freshman in a tough re-election battle.

Iraq War veteran Adam Kinzinger (R) led Halvorson, 44 percent to 38 percent, according to the Republican’s poll.

The poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies also showed 16 percent of voters were undecided. Fifty percent of those surveyed said they had heard of Kinzinger, a first-time Congressional candidate, and 87 percent said they had heard of Halvorson.

The survey polled 400 likely voters from March 21-22 and had a margin of error of 4.9 points.
