Schiff Hits TV Airwaves in Connecticut

Businessman Peter Schiff (R), who has until recently been running an under-the-radar campaign for Connecticut’s open Senate seat, has released his first television advertisement.

One of the interesting parts of the straight-to-camera spot is what Schiff doesn’t say — his party affiliation.

Schiff trails former Rep. Rob Simmons and former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon in polls for the GOP primary in Connecticut.

A Schiff aide confirmed that he will run in the August primary even if he does not get the party’s endorsement at its convention in May — perhaps a more difficult task if voters don’t know he’s a Republican.

Schiff campaign manager J.R. Romano said the two-week ad buy cost about $500,000. It’s airing statewide on both cable and broadcast stations. Revolution Media created the spot.
