A Conversation With Blake Curd, S.D. House Candidate

Posted March 30, 2010 at 5:26pm

Note: Part of a series of video interviews with 2010 Congressional candidates who stop by the Roll Call offices. Over the course of the next year, we will feature interviews from as many top races as possible.

Sioux Falls, S.D., hand surgeon Blake Curd is one of three top-tier Republicans vying to take on Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.) for the state’s at-large House seat this fall. The Air Force veteran is serving his first term in the South Dakota House of Representatives. Curd joined the race in October and has raised the most money of the candidates in the GOP field. He also has personal wealth and hasn’t ruled out dipping into his own pocket.

Watch as Curd talks about what he thinks South Dakotans are looking for in their elected officials, how he decided to become a hand surgeon and which president’s face he would add to his state’s most famous tourist attraction.
