Murray Raises $1 Million; Rossi Still Undecided
Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) will report that she raised about $1 million in the first quarter of the year and ended March with $5.9 million in her re-election account, according to a senior aide.
Although Murray has yet to attract a top-notch opponent, 2008 gubernatorial nominee Dino Rossi (R) is seriously considering a bid, and he was in Washington, D.C., last week meeting with GOP officials about a campaign against the Senate’s fourth-ranking Democrat. If Rossi decides to run, polling has shown that the contest would be highly competitive.
However, in an interview this week with Roll Call, Rossi said he was completely undecided about the race. He said that he will run if he determines he has more than a 50 percent chance of winning, and he will make a decision on his own timetable before the June filing deadline.
“I haven’t said no,’ but I certainly haven’t said yes,'” Rossi said. “We’ll just keep moving forward. The good news is that I don’t have to make up my mind today, because I don’t have all my cards on the table.”
