Utah: Defeated Bennett to Discuss What’s Next

Sen. Bob Bennett (R), who failed to win nomination at the May 8 convention, has called a press conference on Thursday to “announce his plans for his political future,” according to a release from his office.

After finishing behind businessman Tim Bridgewater and attorney Mike Lee at the GOP convention, the only electoral path left for the Senator would be a long-shot write-in campaign.

Bennett declined to rule out taking that route last week.

But his news conference will take place at the National Republican Senatorial Committee headquarters — not a likely venue for launching an effort against the party’s eventual nominee.
