HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Naked Lunch

Much like Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) and his nude pose in Cosmo magazine, Rep. John Hall (D-N.Y.) will never live down that album cover of his old band, Orleans — you know, the one where he and his band mates appear naked, their chests befurred and their ’70s-era locks flowing.

Humor site Cracked included the image in its fabulous roundup of “The 19 Most Hilariously Failed Attempts at Sexy Album Covers,” a list that also features John Travolta and Prince in their birthday suits. As Cracked sagely notes, “not every musician is suitable for the role of sexy cover model.”

In the caption under the Orleans album cover (it’s No. 14 on the list), the writer clearly doesn’t know that the bearded man in the center of the photo is now a dignified Congressman. The author speculates that the members of the band are completely naked, even though they are only shot from the waist up. “The guy in the middle is looking down at his friend’s junk. What do you find so interesting, Mr. Beard?”
