New York: McMahon at Midyear Has $1.3 Million in the Bank

Freshman Rep. Michael McMahon (D) raised a healthy $446,000 from April 1 to June 30 and had just under $1.3 million in the bank at the end of the second quarter, his campaign announced Wednesday.

About half of the Congressman’s second-quarter haul came from a pair of fundraisers in early June. The first was at the home of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I). The second, on Staten Island, was headlined by six-term Rep. Anthony Weiner (D).

Republicans are hoping to give McMahon a serious challenge in the battleground district that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won by 2 points in the 2008 presidential race. Businessman and former FBI agent Michael Grimm is facing Michael Allegretti, a former aide to Bloomberg, in the GOP primary.
