Baucus Pushes for Tax Cut Vote

Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) continued to push for a vote extending middle-class tax cuts before the midterm elections, and he said Tuesday that the Senate could do so and still adjourn next week.

“I think we need to pass the middle-income tax cuts permanently and now,” he said. “It’s the right thing to do. First of all, it helps stimulate the economy. It provides certainty, stability and predictability. There’s no doubt in my mind we’ve got to pass these now.”

Baucus said Democrats would discuss the issue Thursday.
