Pelosi to Meet With Warren About Consumer Agency

Speaker Nancy Pelosi will meet with Elizabeth Warren on Wednesday to talk about the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that Warren is helping to get off the ground.

“Meeting with Elizabeth Warren tomorrow about new consumer protection bureau we created — she’s hitting the ground running!” the California Democrat wrote Tuesday evening on Twitter.

The two will take part in a photo opportunity at 3:30 p.m.

President Barack Obama announced this month that he was appointing Warren, a Harvard University law professor, to a special advisory role to help shape the agency created under the financial regulatory overhaul. In her interim post, Warren will oversee all aspects of the bureau’s creation, including staff recruitment and future decisions about the agency. She will also play a role in picking a permanent chief.
