Report: Emanuel Moving to Chicago This Weekend to Launch Mayoral Campaign

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will step down from his job on Friday and move to Chicago this weekend to kick off his mayoral campaign, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday.

Expect Emanuel to “begin campaigning like a galloping horse next week,” a source told the Chicago paper. “He is not worried about not meeting a residency requirement. He has had top election experts advising him and he doesn’t have a problem in that area.”

Emanuel is expected to make an announcement Friday about his future. White House aides maintain that Emanuel is still making up his mind and there will be an announcement soon.

“Nothing is final or confirmed at this point,” one aide said.
