Gibbs: Obama, Pelosi Have Not Talked Since Late September

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs raised some eyebrows Tuesday after saying he did not think President Barack Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have spoken since a Sept. 30 meeting at the White House with Congressional Democratic leaders.

“I don’t know that they’ve spoken since there was the joint meeting here at the White House,” Gibbs told reporters.

A Pelosi aide later said he did not know whether that was accurate.

The suggestion that the two have not spoken in weeks comes at a time when both are in serious campaign mode as they work to stem Democratic losses in the midterm elections.
