Woman Attacked Before Paul-Conway Debate

A woman affiliated with MoveOn.org was thrown to the ground and her head was stomped on before Monday night’s debate between Senate candidates Rand Paul (R) and Jack Conway (D) in Kentucky, a local Fox news station reported.

WDRB Fox 41 had video of the incident, in which two men wrestle her to the ground and one of them steps down on her head. The station identified the assailants as Paul supporters.

The woman, Lauren Valle, was trying to give Paul a fake award from MoveOn.org. She had been wearing a wig and posing as a representative of RepubliCorp, a fake company invented by MoveOn.org to criticize Republicans’ ties to corporate America. Valle was planning to give Paul an employee of the month “award” from RepubliCorp.

WTVQ ABC 36 reported that an assault report was filed, but arrests have not been made.

The Paul-Conway debate was tame, especially when compared with the tensions that rose when they debated earlier this month. Paul had threatened to withdraw from Monday night’s final debate before the Nov. 2 election over Conway’s focus on a GQ article that quoted an anonymous woman accusing Paul of a hazing stunt in college in the 1980s.
