Pelosi Promotes Press Staff

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday that she has named Nadeam Elshami communications director and senior adviser and Drew Hammill deputy communications director and press secretary.

“Nadeam and Drew will continue to excel in providing our Members the critical resources and message opportunities they need to demonstrate our commitment to strengthen the middle class,” the California Democrat said in a statement. “Under Nadeam’s leadership, our communications operation will make known the efforts of House Democrats on behalf of the middle class and lead our rapid response efforts. Drew has been an integral part of our team since 2006 and he will lead our efforts to ensure our message is echoed well beyond the Beltway.”

Elshami is currently deputy communications director and Hammill is press secretary; both have both been with Pelosi since February 2007. The staff changes come three days after Pelosi announced that her communications director, Brendan Daly, is leaving for the private sector after working for her for nine years.
