Arizona Republicans Will Fly to Tucson With Obama

Updated: 1:36 p.m.

A mix of Arizona Republican lawmakers and senior administration officials will accompany President Barack Obama on his flight to Tucson to attend Wednesday’s memorial service.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will join Arizona GOP Reps. Jeff Flake, Trent Franks, Ben Quayle, Paul Gosar and David Schweikert on the plane with Obama. Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary and former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano will also be on the flight, as will Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

“We’re grateful he is coming to Arizona,” Franks said Wednesday as he headed into a GOP Caucus meeting.

Pool reports later noted that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), House Assistant Minority Leader James Clyburn (D-S.C.) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) are also flying out with the president.

The memorial service for victims of the Saturday shooting rampage will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time
