Rep. Joe Crowley is seeking another term to lead the New Democrat Coalition. The New York lawmaker sent a letter Thursday asking for his fellow coalition members’ support.

“I believe strongly the New Democrat Coalition is uniquely positioned to help address the challenges and opportunities facing our nation and to re-energize our party to regain the majority,” Crowley wrote. “I am confident that our organization can continue to play a key role in the Democratic Caucus, and if elected I, along with my leadership team, will use this platform to build coalitions and work with the Administration, our party leadership and like-minded colleagues in Congress to move our nation forward.”

Crowley is not expected to be challenged for the position. He also endorsed a slate of leaders, including Reps. Ron Kind (Wis.) and Allyson Schwartz (Pa.), who will continue on as vice chairmen. He nominated Reps. Jim Himes (Conn.) and Rick Larsen (Wash.) to fill out the coalition’s leadership. Himes and Larsen would replace former Rep. Melissa Bean (Ill.), who lost in the midterm elections, and Rep. Adam Smith (Wash.), who will remain a member of the New Democrats. He is not seeking a leadership position following his successful run to be the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee.
