Heard on the Hill: Cicilline’s New Pad

Correction Appended

Finding a fabulous apartment in a new city is difficult, even for Members of Congress. Lucky for freshman Rep. David Cicilline, a friend was willing to let him crash at his place for a while.

HOH has learned that the Rhode Island Democrat is not only taking former Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s old job, but he’s also living in the Capitol Hill apartment formerly inhabited by Kennedy. Cicilline is the former mayor of Providence who won an open-seat race in November to succeed Kennedy.

“Congressman Cicilline is only temporarily living in former Rep. Kennedy’s apartment on a month-to-month lease until he finds another apartment,” Cicilline Communications Director Jessica Kershaw tells HOH.

No word on where Kennedy is living or when Cicilline plans to move into his own digs.

Correction: Jan. 26, 2011

The article misstated to whom Rep. David Cicilline pays rent. He pays a separate landlord, not former Rep. Patrick Kennedy.
