It likely won’t be enough to ward off challenges from the right and left in her 2012 re-election effort, but Sen. Olympia Snowe reported $1.2 million in her campaign account at the end of 2010, according to her most recent federal filing.

Maine tea party activists have identified “Snowe removal” as a priority for the coming cycle. And while the fractured conservative movement has yet to rally around a single candidate, Snowe’s camp isn’t taking anything for granted in a political climate that has left very few moderate Republicans in the Senate.

She essentially broke even over the previous two-year cycle, having raised $645,000 and spent $705,000. Fundraising, however, has never been a problem for the longtime New England politician.

Snowe raised $3.8 million in her 2006 race against token Democratic opposition.

Maine Democrats have yet to find a Snowe challenger for 2012, although businesswoman Rosa Scarcelli is considering a run. She spent $500,000 out of her own pocket in the 2010 Democratic gubernatorial primary and told Roll Call earlier in the month that raising money “wouldn’t be a factor” should she decide to challenge the three-term incumbent.
