Rep. Marcia Fudge is working on a special Valentine’s Day project this year.

The Ohio Democrat is collecting hundreds of handmade valentines to be delivered to more than 500 veterans who are in a hospital in her district.

“It’s just so they know somebody is thinking about them, that somebody is caring about them,” she tells HOH.

Everybody now: Awww!

Fudge reached out to elementary schools in her district and invited students in grades four through six to create the cards. In fact, last week Fudge paid a visit to the Greenview Upper Elementary School, where she helped students decorate their valentines and even made a few of her own.

“The kids were so engaged. We made all kinds of cards,” Fudge says. “It is rewarding in a lot of ways to know how our young people look at veterans and how thankful they are.”

Staffers from Fudge’s office plan to begin delivering the cards to the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland on Friday.
