Ron Pauls Money Bomb Sends Him to N.H.
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) told supporters his Presidents Day “money bomb” raised $730,000 and that he will boost his political travel in the coming weeks.
“Our success has allowed me to confirm a trip to New Hampshire and begin planning several more to other key political states,” Paul wrote in a fundraising e-mail Wednesday night.
Paul said he’d keep the ticker counting donations on his site for a few days. The libertarian added, “Think about the message we will send if we push all the way to one million dollars!”
Earlier in the week, Paul said he’d used the money to book a second trip to Iowa and had cleared his staff to plan a trip to Nevada.
As Roll Call reported Monday, Paul has been teasing supporters about his White House ambitions, telling them in an e-mail their cash would help him afford to visit early presidential nominating states.
He has said invitations have been coming in from other states since his victory at the Conservative Political Action Conference presidential straw poll.
