It’s always more fun to watch a basketball game with a fellow fan.

Sen. Dick Durbin will be joining his old pal and fellow Illinoisan President Barack Obama at the White House on Wednesday night to watch the Chicago Bulls take on the Charlotte Bobcats. No word on who else will be joining the pair, though HOH wonders whether former Bulls player and current Bobcats owner Michael Jordan will be on hand.

This isn’t the first time Durbin has watched a sporting event at the White House. The Illinois Democrat was a guest at the first Super Bowl party that the president hosted back in 2009.

Turns out the two have been watching Chicago sports together for a long time. A tipster in Durbin’s office tells us that he hosted members of the Illinois delegation in his Capitol Hill office to watch the Chicago White Sox sweep the Houston Astros back in the 2005 World Series. The guest list included Obama and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.

As for Wednesday night’s game, it’s pretty clear who Durbin’s office is picking to win.

“Michael Jordan might need to play for the Bobcats for them to have a chance to beat Derrick Rose and the Bulls,” the tipster says.
