The Toms may not have the same ring as the Oscars, but that’s not stopping the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation from naming an awards ceremony after former Homeland Security Secretary and ex-Rep. Tom Ridge (R-Pa.).

The Tom Ridge Homeland Security Awards are planned for later this month in New York. We hear that Ridge, who now works in the private sector, will be on hand at the star-studded event. After all, it’s not every day that a former politician gets his own awards show.

“It is a great honor for me to have this opportunity to commemorate America’s courageous federal agents especially with ongoing threats to our country and citizens in a post 9/11 world,” Ridge, who serves as honorary FEHSF chairman, said in a release.

The awards will recognize federal law enforcement agents from various government agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI.

Celebs Kristin Chenoweth, Mario Lopez and Kelsey Grammer are slated to attend the bash. Several Members of Congress and their staff have also been invited, though it’s unclear who said yes.

The FEHSF is a nonprofit organization that aids federal agents and their families.
