HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Calling All Gleeks
The American Association of People with Disabilities is honoring “Glee” actress Lauren Potter with an Image Award at a Wednesday gala.
Potter and the show will be celebrated at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center for “leading the way in how young people with disabilities are perceived in modern media and in popular culture.” After the gala there will even be a viewing party where Gleeks and others can watch the hit TV show.
But the awards aren’t just fawning over celebs; they’re also taking a wonky turn and recognizing political types. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) and his wife, Cheryl, will be given the Spirit of the ADA Award in recognition of their work with the disabled community, while Education Secretary Arne Duncan will deliver the keynote speech.
