Pelosi Resuming Schedule After Hospitalization

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is resuming her schedule in Rome after a brief hospitalization for an undisclosed condition, her spokesman said Monday.

“After several flights yesterday in Afghanistan, and a long flight back to Italy that arrived early this morning, Leader Pelosi was not feeling well. This morning in Rome, the Leader was advised to visit a clinic, and the closest medical facility was a hospital. The Leader is now resuming her schedule in Italy,” Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami said in a statement.

The California Democrat, who is in Italy to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the nation’s unification, was scheduled to meet with Defense Minister Ignazio La Russa and Gianfranco Fini, head of the lower house of parliament, when she felt “slightly unwell,” Agence-France Presse reported earlier Monday.

Pelosi was forced to cancel her meeting with La Russa and postpone her meeting with Fini.

Pelosi thanked people on Twitter for their well wishes, though she did not say why she was in the hospital.

“Thanks to everyone for your well wishes — had a very productive trip to Afghanistan and am in Italy resuming meetings now,” she tweeted.
