Alaska’s Joe Miller to Chair PAC

Former Senate candidate Joe Miller is joining a conservative political action committee as its chairman, ABC News reported Wednesday.

Miller, the tea party favorite in the 2010 Senate race in Alaska, told ABC that he considered starting his own PAC but that joining Western Representation PAC gave him the chance to hit the ground running.

“Despite being formed fairly recently, the PAC was able to gain strong support and make an important impact during the 2010 election cycle,” Miller said in a statement Wednesday. “We plan to build on that great start and bring the voice of ‘We the People’ to bear even more as we move towards 2012.”

The PAC supported Miller in his GOP primary victory over Sen. Lisa Murkowski, it said in announcing Miller’s post. But Murkowski fought back and won the general election in a historic write-in bid.

Miller has “no specific plans right now” to run for the at-large House seat in 2012 or against Democratic Sen. Mark Begich in 2014, but he “wouldn’t take anything off the table,” he told ABC.

Miller is taking over as chairman from Dustin Stockton, who is now chief strategist. Stockton founded Western Representation PAC with his father, Roger, in early 2009. The group claims more than 250,000 supporters from across the country.
