GOP Presidential Debate on Tap for Florida

The first GOP presidential debate following the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary has been planned for Florida.

The debate, to be held at the site of the 2012 Republican convention, will be hosted by the National Journal, NBC News, the St. Petersburg Times and the Florida Council of 100. The exact date of the debate has not been set. Organizers simply said it would be “early next year.”

The news comes as major questions remain over whether the Florida Legislature will change the GOP presidential primary date, currently scheduled earlier than national party rules allow.
