Heard on the Hill: A Door Fit for a Prince?

The Supreme Court closed its majestic front doors to the public a year ago this week — and even princes can’t use the imposing entryway.

Four days after his son’s wedding, Prince Charles of Wales held court with Justices Stephen Breyer, Antonin Scalia and Sonia Sotomayor at the Supreme Court on Tuesday. He was met at the curb by Breyer, who took Charles to the new side entrance for visitors.

The prince, an honorary patron of the Association of Marshall Scholars, met with scholarship recipients.

Breyer studied at Oxford as a Marshall scholar, as did Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.), the only current Member to do so.

Charles went on to visit the Common Good City Farm, where he met D.C. Mayor Vince Gray. He also met with President Barack Obama, gave a speech at Georgetown University, and was slated to dine with Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on Wednesday.
