Your addiction to ogling pet pictures online just got a Congressional angle, so it should be considered work, right?

The Humane Society of the United States is sponsoring a Congressional Pet Photo Contest pitting the cutest cats and dogs belonging to Members of Congress and their staffers in an epic competition of adorableness.

Judging hasn’t started yet, but there are plenty of contenders, including Rice, the cat belonging to Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), or Charlie Chaffetz, the puppy of Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah).

The contest may be “bi-pawtisan” (ouch), but it is species-biased. Dogs, cats and horses are eligible, but sadly, no fish, reptiles, ferrets or hamsters are allowed.

The feline, canine and equestrian companions are judged in 20 categories, including the Rising Star Kittens and Puppies, Elder Statescats and Statesdogs, Feline and Canine Pawjority Leaders, and Steeds of State.

Deadline for entry is noon Friday. You can vote for your favorite Congressional pet pic in the People’s Choice Award category. Prizes are bragging rights.

Voting for People’s Choice opens Monday. Winners of the Congressional Pet Photo Contest will be announced at a reception on Capitol Hill on June 14. Puppies will be on hand for cuddling.
