DCCC Appoints Four Members to New Leadership Roles
Rep. Allyson Schwartz (Pa.) has been promoted at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, filling a void left last month when Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.) was tapped by the president to lead the Democratic National Committee.
Having begun the 2012 cycle as the national recruiting chair, Schwartz’s role will expand going forward to include the national chairmanship of candidate services as well, according to an announcement released by committee Chairman Steve Israel (N.Y.) that included a handful of other changes.
Rep. Jim Himes (Conn.) will chair the Frontline program, aimed at protecting vulnerable incumbents, while Reps. Donna Edwards (Md.) and Jared Polis (Colo.) will chair the Red to Blue program.
“The DCCC has the best, most aggressive leadership team in the business. Representatives Allyson Schwartz, Jim Himes, Donna Edwards and Jared Polis perfect combination of drive, experience, political know-how and leadership savvy to make this the shortest Republican majority in history,” Israel said in a statement. “I’m thrilled they will be working with us this cycle to ensure Democratic Members and candidates have the tools and resources they need to win.”
