Rep. John Lewis (D), who has represented Georgia’s 5th district since 1987, drew a primary challenger Monday.

Former Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson will challenge Lewis in the July 2012 Democratic primary, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Lewis, a civil rights icon, won his 2010 election with 74 percent of the vote.
