Putnam Backs Haridopolos in Florida Senate Race
Florida state Senate President Mike Haridopolos nabbed the endorsement of former Rep. Adam Putnam (R), the GOP Senate candidate announced Monday.
Haridopolos was pleased to accept the endorsement, which was made over the weekend, he said in the statement.
Putnam, who is currently the Florida agriculture commissioner, touted Haridopolos’ “record of accomplishment in Florida when it comes to balancing budgets and restraining government spending,” according to Monday’s statement.
Putnam is widely regarded among Florida Republicans to be considering a run for governor in the Sunshine State.
Haridopolos faces former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner and former Sen. George LeMieux in the GOP primary. The winner will take on two-term Sen. Bill Nelson (D) in November 2012.
Haridopolos raised a whopping $2.6 million in the first quarter of this year.
